French Knights with assault ladders (Miniart)

All in all, not a bad set..it has it´s faults and they can be read about at PSR
I haven´t painted all the bods in the set, only the brave (or slightly insane) ones climbing the ladder.
A quick test run in ladder usage, here they are trying to climb up to the kingdom of heaven. If you attach the ladder to the base provided,  then using a heated screwdriver, weld the pegs from underneath, then base the whole thing again on a new base it remains freestanding.
Attacking Hugh Jarses´s castle.................or...............................
....................have they just forgotten the Keys???
I tried to attach them after cutting the pegs off the bottom of thier boots...but they just don´t stay put. I used glue but it failed. Who knows, maybe high heeled assault boots were all the rage...

    2. Paul,

Ever considered using Wordpress rather than Blogger for your blog? Haven't used it myself but it might be better?

  3. Great stuff Paul. Totally agree with the others, the heraldry on the shields is fab.

And I do like the look of that castle wall!

  4. Great set Paul and beautiful stone building! I reluctantly climb a ladder to paint or change a light. I really don't know how you do it when the other side is throwing boiling oil, rocks, arrows and such down on you. Just crazy!

  8. High heeled assault boots may be all well and good when climbing a ladder, but they're a devil to keep quiet when you're tottering over the cobbles! Looks great though Paul.

  10. That is very cool. They look great, until someone gets to the wall with some boiling oil.

  12. Very good work!
I've always thought that it was not a really easy set to paint...

  13. Very nice figures!
I guess this was a situation where the expression "friendly fire" could have begin. The guys climbing had to have some protection from archers(?)... but, unless they were all like William Tell,...

  14. Back from a night on the town and don't want the sergeant on duty at the gate to find out....great work!

  16. Beautifully painted figures but I REALLY like the stone work!

My old Elastolin 40mm ladder climber hangs on without pegs or glue. Probably an advantage of the larger size, bigger fists?

  17. These are great. Can you imagine climbing one handed up a ladder against opposition?
I've had very good luck gluing plastic by using white glue and then adding a tiny dot of super glue.

  18. Absolutely great stuff, with some very fine terrain work on the walls and battlements. It's really tricky making stuff like this look "right", but you really pulled it off. Great stuff.
