Enough babbling from me..there´s a lot of interesting facts about medieval guilds which can be read up on HERE
I´ll quote one part though, my reason for creating some Guild warriors;
"Guild members were expected to help to protect the town or the city where the guild operated. These civic duties included providing a militia for the town, policing the streets and constructing public buildings and walls to defend the town or city"
A couple of conversions using bods from the Zvezda Medieval Peasant army set and legs and nags from the zvezda French Knights set. The foot bod is just a standard bod from the Peasant army set, his scythe replaced with a flag.
Lord mayor of Styrow-on-the-Foam. He´s the elected head of the Money lenders guild so can afford some decent armour |
Standard bearer for the Armourers guild |
Standard bearer for the Woodcutters guild |
Hello to Captiain LOL from Figurine Passion Blog. He paints larger scale figs, sculpts etc..and it´s well worth having a look at his blog...his brushwork on the North american woman and her child is really very nice.
The figurines is really good paint , really nice work .

Hobbyworker.
Those are some very nice figures, the guilds of styrow-on-the-foam must be very important, and I dare to think what terrible occurence has caused this guild leader to take up arms!!! woodcutters guild where is his axe!
ReplyDeleteReally nice work, Paul. I like your medieval bods more and more. Where did you get the backdrop?
ReplyDeleteThe great colour in your figures really captures the nature of the Guilds. I remember from my medieval drama course how the guilds would present plays based on bible stories, and each guild would insert commercials for their trade into the play, so, for example, Noah's flood would have a long speech talking about how the ark was a great ship and if you wanted more great ships like, go to the shipbuilders in town X or Y. Great fun.
These are some great figures Paul, I wish I had access to some of these. It's the same for me as for you with Thunderbolt Mountain, the bank, shipping etc all too expensive. Maybe one day we can do a swap across and both get what we want on the cheap!
ReplyDeleteThanks Anne.
DeleteYou can´t get zvezda in the US?
Excellent Paul!
ReplyDeleteReally excellent!!
ReplyDeleteVery, very nice and great banners too - thank you.
ReplyDeleteFantastic Paul. Great idea to combine the peasant with the legs from the Zvezda knight.
ReplyDeleteThey're friggin' terrific as always! But you should stop painting for a few hours, take a nap and then get to that face-painting tutorial I have been pestering you about lately :o)
