Why? Could be a couple of reasons including some s**t head has reported me but what for I can´t imagine...they didn´t like my taste in Music?

It could be me using a Name that ain´t my own? Well, that´s actually allowed here (protection of online anonymity) and wether FB thinks everyone should give thier Name and address to FB, then Ok..they can all give US thier names and addresses.
Using a "False name"...that would go for one heck of a lot of the modelling /bod painting community.
And, if you think that using your real Name on your FB Profile is any protection, think again, they are blocking accounts at random all over, both with nicknames and real names. Today I´ve read 100´s of cases this year alone. I gave up reading them eventually cos the stories were the same, accounts locked of longtime users, accounts under thier real names, no Explanation..the only way you can find out..Give em a scan of your ID...ie; Break the law.
Anyway, to get back on I´d have to send a scan of ID, and seeing as me doing that constitutes a crime in this Country and the asking for and recieving of would be aiding and abbetting, I´ll save myself and possibly some poor IT twonk working for the man, the Trouble .
Will I go back? Not on the old account for sure..unless they unlock it...but the only proof of ID they will get from me is the steam off my S++T..and that´s if I´m Feeling generous.
I could open another account..easy enough, create a satellite E-Mail etc but that would be against thier "rules" but seeing as the observance of international /national laws don´t bother them why should a "rule" bother me?
Even if i did..what would be the Point? I would build up the old contacts and at some Point down the line the same Thing would happen again.
My advice ? Delete your accounts while you have Access to them.

ReplyDeleteAnd that´s what I am saying. Did you create an account using a Name with Intention of committing an offence under the data protection laws of your Country? No you didn´t but they are treating People as if they have. Did they ask for this ID at the start to open an account? No they didn´t, they wait until People have built up some sort of contact list and mild interest on thier platform then they use this method (which IMHO amounts to a form of blackmail" to obtain ID, ID which niether proves (a Utility bill or Club Membership addressed to the Person with thier Name and address.something that any fool can falsify if they wanted) b that the Person is who they say they are or they, FB, are legally allowed to ask for.

That would work if I had set up a FB Page and then wouldn´t allow the friends function..ie; I couldn´t "be-friend" back. I might write them a stinker of a letter telling them to delete the account, Under thier "rules" , which they seem to be acting upon as laws which they definately are not I would then be able to set up a new account..wether i would is a nother matter.
DeleteIf we all allow them to act is if thier "rules" are the same as Laws we will all suffer the consequences of corporate greed ..ie; being taken to real courts for breaking some quasi "laws" which started as private Company conditions and allowing those companies to deal with breaches of their rules, which in some cases are in fact breaches of real laws and punishable under Standing criminal/civil laws, in thier own Kangaroo Courts..example of which would be (among others) FIFA and the world Cup in Brazil.
I only got on FB a couple of years ago when a gaming buddy posted game pictures there. I only have a handful of "Friends" and hardly use it for anything other than posting images of food I eat when I go out with my wife :)! That said, I don't really care much about the thing, but bummer that you got locked out without even an explanation why. In these days of ID theft/fraud I'd hesitate to give them anything more to get back on.
ReplyDeleteID theft etc..exactly. Who the hell gets hold of my ID? What Background have they got? Basically under the law here they are committing an offence by even recieving it on thier PC and would have to immediately delete it under the data Retention laws which makes the whole excercise pointless.

DeleteProblems are;
A. I would be committing an offence to upload ID
B. They cannot legally ask for, recieve or retain the ID and what would be the Point of me sending it? They have never personally met me or come to that any of us so I could theoretically upload anyone´s ID and Claim it as mine..absolutely perfect for criminals with Access to false ID, which makes any excuse on FB´s Part of this helping to prove peoples identities and stop crime a pile of bollocks.

I try to published "soft" .... I don't always like (literately) what some people published even if they are "Friends" !
I will not delete my account because it's useful for me to have FaceBot and sometimes it's fun too ! ... sometimes...
It´s got nothing to do with having a false Name or using your real one. As I wrote, a lot of People have had thier Pages blocked and they use thier real names. I searched this "blocking by FB" and found loads of Forums with hundreds of People saying they had been blocked..some had been there for years, had hundreds or a few friends and were using thier real names. just do a search in French and you´ll find them as well.
DeleteWether you delete it or not isn´t the Point, at some time they will block you and ask for proof of ID, (it appears to be a strategy at the moment ) and if you don´t give what they want, all your pics etc are Held without you having Access.
As for it being usefull? I´m Feeling way happier without the Thing..loads more time and any contacts that are important I already had elsewhere..ie; Here
That's a bummer Paul. I have a friend who has been blocked from using his real name. Supposedly by someone else with the same name. I sometimes wonder why I still use FB, it is nice to see what friends are doing but I also have to read a lot of political vitriol, which I do not enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThe same Name wouldn´t be the issue. I know because I had two accounts at the same time using the same Name (many years back and Long since deleted) and if I Google search my Full Name it Comes up with 93 FB users with exactly the same Name.
DeleteI was finding recently that there was a ton of shite on FB..racism, sexism and the like which led to me deleting some "friends" or changing the feed to unfollow the comments. It was becoming boring to a greater degree than it was fun anymore..not to say there wasn´t any fun but mostly boring stuff.
My wife's cat got her kicked off Facebook recently. True story.
