I hope you glued them down - remember the zero gravity! I remember having this set (in yellow plastic?) but have no idea what became of them. The visors are a bit eerie, but it saves having to paint their faces.
Thanks guys :-D Unfortunately or not, depending how you look at it, I have EVERY Airfix bod set ever made...all original issues and intend to paint each pose of every set(it keeps me off the streets at night)so watch out ;-D Were they actually on the moon? I think this group photo shows the truth :-D Cheers Paul
this bring back sooo many memories. Of course my astronauts fought the Japs, did salvage work underwater, and helped the Matchbox British Commandos. Never painted a single one of them though. Great job.
Well a big hello backatcha, thanks for the mention!
Oh, I like these. For some reason it gives me an idea for Cthulhu game set on the moon. Can the astronauts in the buggy get back to warn the others at the base before horrible tentacly death reaches them? Will the escape ship be ready in time? Why DO the astronauts inexplicably carry side arms?
Very cool - I grew up in the 60's and I was a big fan of the space program. Had many astronaut sets (those larger sets sold in clear plastic bags). Just a small note though - the US flag should have the canton (union w/stars) towards the hoist. Warm Regards, Dean
Good grief!! These old Airfix sets do bring back some memories !! Says a lot about the age range of most of us ;-D I too used this set in hundreds of scenarios...chemical / biological / nuclear clearance, firefighting...loads. @ Dean...I know...I looked first but even then got it the wrong way around...Doh!! :-) Cheers Paul
Your site is more about memories for a lot of people than anything else Paul. Some great painting.

What a line-up. We still haven't had so many up there at once, ever. Still time.

ReplyDeleteSuper work. Mine were yellow as well and never painted either. The assessories were great and fun to use with WW2 stuff.
