Most of the conversions are simple weapon changes, like the following 4, axes instead of spears or a bow.....
....or very simple ones like putting the arrow on the correct side of the bow stave.
The most complicated was Sven. Lining the head, Body (from the caesar orcs set) and legs up was a real pain.

Interesting bit of archeology about the mass excecution of 50 plus vikings HERE
Looks great! I'm guessing these are all Zvezda vikings, right?
ReplyDeleteChanging what side of the bow the arrow is on doesn't seem like a straightforward conversion to me. Care to share how you did it?
Thanks :-D
DeleteThey are all Zvezda vikings. The arrow "conversion" isn´t exactly easy. You have to bend the top of the bowstave away from the arrow and using a razor blade (they are thin enough for the purpose) slice gently along the length of the arrow, taking Acre not to go too deep into the Hand Holding the bow, then leave the razor blade in the cut, letting go of the bowstave. It should hold in place. Then using aniother razor blade gently slice under the arrow towards the bowstave. The first razorblade should help in stopping the second blade going too deep and slicing through the bow stave. It takes a bit of Patience and a steady Hand. :-D
Oh..and after the arrow is cut free it may Need a bit of tidying up, excess plastic removing..this just Needs a lot of concentration. Then when that´s done, re-alighn the Hand Holding the bow a bit to the right, and push the arrow (where it´s Held in the left Hand) to the left (you can use hot water for one of These but not both. Not both because unless you are very quick and can do both before the plastic cools a second hot water bath undoes the new "Memory" and sets it back to the old Position.
DeleteThanks! It sounds like a tricky job, more than my modeling skills can handle. Impressive work!
DeleteGreat looking warband - all of them look so realistic - especially against the background. Best, Dean
ReplyDeleteFabulous job, Sven Slawrta sounds like a one man traffic jam.
ReplyDeleteHi, Mr. Bods. Nice going there, sir.
ReplyDeleteThat are some simple but fantastic conversions! I must give it a try some day for myself!
ReplyDeleteGreetings
Peter
Great idea to use the orc body.
ReplyDeleteHi Paul, you surprise me again with your figures. Nice and colourful vikings
ReplyDeletethe ones you introduce us.

ReplyDeleteCheers
always so good !!
ReplyDeleteyour conversions are amazing and they always seem to be very easy ....
Hey Guys! Don't believe Paul !! they are very difficult !
(but it's good to do some : when it's an acceptable result; it's fun!)
Neat video.
ReplyDeleteHi Paul,
ReplyDeletean interesting conversion. As for the movie we have the typical German problem with the translations. The original DVD is much longer then the German one...
Just tonight I opened the post and got the new Medieval warfare magazine, this time Alfred the great's wars. Now I am waiting for Cornwells Pagan Lord and I think then it is time to paint some more Vikings too:-))
cheers
uwe
