Aifix Guards Colour Party

So, after the slightly gloomy pic from yesterday, a nice colourfull bunch of bods...the Airfix guards colour party. Why they are so named I don´t know as there was no icecream or pop in the box., and they look pretty serious..certianly NOT in a party mood at all!!
This, along with the guards band  was my very first set of  bods...I remember lining them up along the hall...then later using the heads as ammo for a 1/32nd scale metal howitzer...luckily some survived to tell the tale...maybe that´s why the stern faces! :-)
Eyes........Right!!!

11.11.11

A little dio based in WWI. I tried to make it a transformation scene. The bod´s soul is supposed to be leaving his body and is transforming into the white cross... and the wrecked landscape of mud is becoming green fields. One of the barbedwire supports (Right of pic) looks like a broken muddied cross but doesn´t show up well on the photo.....I´m not a supporter of wars...and this one was to my mind possibly the most dreadfull waste of people and animals in such a confined space of time and place, but it needs to be remembered that they died, as do all those who die in any conflict.

Airfix WW II German Paras

I tried to copy the cammoflage as shown on the box art...the Helmets and the trousers..??? they look VERY blue in the photo...in real life´they are not so blue.  honest :-)

Revell 1/72nd De Havilland D.H.2

This one nearly sent me into the looney bin....the rigging!!!! It never seemed to end !. I had considered it everytime I saw it in a shop and everytime told myself.."NO WAY!!" Finally I convinced myself with the thought that if I can get even half the rigging done then I would be pleased...many hours and many many curses later......:-)

Couple of in progress pics

Fallen comrade

A bit of snipping and glueing involved in the making of this one. Both bods from the Zvezda Punic wars Roman set.
He´s supposed to be protecting his wounded mate...who looks a bit past caring

Airfix WWII Japanese

This mob didn´t take as long as I thought it would...two sittings over two evenings.

Airfix Arabs (Bedouins)

O . Sharif and the boys
Another set in the seemingly never ending Airfix sets.
How the hell the one in red manages to stay put on that hump!!! Gripping on with teeth in his butt?
The plastic was pretty brittle with this lot, the so called "plastic rot". Being a bit of a lazy sod, I painted only two horses and only both camel poses  so that all the mounted bods could be put into two photos.

Basically, the set is ok...usefull from Beau Geste to WWI period but it´s a pity there aren´t more single bod poses.

Medieval Mobile Bakery

Another wonderfull little set from Alex´s hands. Apart from the poses it was the faces that  really got me with this one. The Bakers look of contentment, the childs look of joy at getting its piece of warm bread and the Bakers wife...intent on  her work...just brilliant.!!!!  I have this set and when I have time, and you really do need time to do these bods justice, I will get and paint them.

Airfix WWI RHA

Got this lot finished a while back...the commander bod (shouting/ has his base removed so he can be added to the dio later. Basically all of the riders look like Blakey from "on the Buses"..."I´ll get you Butler !"

And one more pic, the dio of the gun in action

Airfix ACW Artillery

The gun is C**P, the carriage and horses look VERY odd, but I have fond memories of this set. I painted them up, mixing the Union and CSA bods from the set as a generic CSA gun team.

More gangsters from red Box

This lot of ugly so and so´s are what I like to call the "hoodlums" of the set.
Here they can be seen ignoring all the local road safety laws to have a friendly game of baseball in the middle of the high street. The game has evidently has turned a bit nasty!! Slugger Jones is facing down Wee willy the Knife whilst one of Sluggers team mates tries to introduce his bat to Willys head from behind.. Molly the Moll is pondering what to do with her switchblade whilst her husband, Grumpy Joe just looks on....grumpily.
There is, hidden amongst the rather large amount of Flash, some interesting and original details...like the fact that Willy is holding a pair of Knuckle dusters in his left hand.....how unsporting is that??!
