Another set of Romans exclusive to
Linear-b, this time, unlike the Roman Port set, none of the bods need "hiding" :-D
12 bod poses in the set along with 2 tables, a bar and a pot
|
All 12 bods |
|
With tables, pot and Bar added. |
|
Seated customers |
Standing customers. The pose to the right. Pecunia non olet,"money does not stink" The lower classes peed in pots which was either thrown into the sewers or sold for Tanning, dyeing wool etc.
|
The bar staff |
|
The entertainment. The strings on the Lyre are made from the thinest paintbrush bristles I could find |
Interestingly....I´ve found out why Linear-b are called Linear-b....look
Here
Fantastic work sir! I really like those figures and the way you present them, very nice!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Phil.
Some really great sculpts, nice painting too!
ReplyDeleteNice and very detailed work.
ReplyDeletegreat work paul. that set certainly brings the roman world to life. I do like the faces on these figs not so detailed but they are full of emotion.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gowan.
DeleteI hope they do more sets. Some workers carrying stuff would be a good one or rich folk and a stack of general citizen types (children as well) would be good.
They do look better sculpt than the last ones! I guess it was from the excitement...
ReplyDeleteNow I want to change from Nappies to Romans!
No...don´t...do medievals :-D
DeleteGreat work Paul, love the top picture particularly - they look like the should be at the coliseum. Wolf Nipple Chips, Dromedary Pretzels, Jaguar Ear Lobes, Tuscany Fried Bat and Otter Noses anyone?
ReplyDeleteThank Michael,
Delete"now write it 100 times before sunrise"
These are very cool. You could do some fun stuff.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteSome don´t like the Strelets/Linear-b bods due to the style. They ain´t going to win any comps but they are fun, to piant and then there´s the fun of the challenge of populating a town with just them and setting up some normal and some silly situations. Gets the "conversions" head in gear.
Comedere e bibere ;) , niche scene , great paint Paul
ReplyDeleteA senate man and the rest of the Romans...nice work Paul.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lively group of tavern goers. I'd give a sestertius to know what they are saying.
ReplyDeleteHonesty, if they were not painted by you, I could say:
ReplyDelete"ugly figures" !!!
and they are not very beautiful the Linear-b figs !!
the women couldn't be most horrific !
They don't win a "miss Rome" price, for sure!
I think that they are not at the sale level that both "Roman Transport" (STRELETS and Linear-b)....
Thanks pascal.
DeleteThis seems to be a constant them with some producers, the difference in quality between sets. HaT has a suimilar "problem"ie; thier colonial range..the Indian troops look very clunky alongside say the scottish soldiers, but the style is almost the exact same....different sculptors or the same sculptor having a bad day?
Nice job on those figures Paul. How does Linear B match up with HaT?
ReplyDeleteJoe from DAWGS
Thanks Joe.
DeleteThe don´t go that well together as a rule. The HaT bods tend to be a bit smaller ans finer sculpted, the strelets ones a bit bulkier. An exception is the Normans..they can be mixed well with the HaT El Cid sets and the diffrences aren´t immediately apparent.
This just makes me want to eat, get drunk and pee in a pot. Hang on...that's my plan for Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteGreat fun and nicely done, Paul.
this is a good set for dioramas, i love civilians always!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michele.
DeleteI´m a big fan of civilians as well. Some people have said there are so few but with a bit of conversion you can get a lot of medieval civvies and some can be used for ancients and visa versa
Prost! Very nice, Paul. I like the man doing something a man has to do sometimes...
ReplyDeleteThese are much better as the previous set! And you did a great paintjob Paul. I like them! Now you just need some sailors! ;-)
ReplyDeleteGreetings
Peter

You have really brought this set to life with your painting, superb.
ReplyDeleteThose are great fun, and nice painting! Bags of character. Again, I wish someone made them in 28mm.
ReplyDeleteCheers, Simon
Nice work Paul...some day I'd like to see your whole collection, must be massive
ReplyDeleteThanks
DeleteIt is quite large..taking up more room than it should..some of it will have to go at some point, but it´s hard making a decision on what to scrap and what to keep.
