Another batch of Teutonics

Not the last of the bods, but nearly the last of the mounted kiggithood and nearing the end of the first lead pile..
I particually like the middle "reaching under his reins for his sword"  pose

Medieval Guards on Duty

4 sets of Valdemar-Miniatures: VA127 "Medieval guards on duty" for the 1329 dio.
The should be 24 but one (the one on the far right on the pic below ) lost his Hand during Drilling and it pinged off into the never never land

The 6 bod poses thake make up each set

There´s not a lot of scope for alterations apart from adding different weapons. The bod on the left I twisted his arm so the spear is Held upright rather than over his shoulder.

Airfix StuH 42

As part of the Airfix 2016 Stug III/75mm Assault Gun Group Build I wanted to do two StuG´s, one a Fantasy based one, the other an OOB but as I started I decided on making  a Sturmhaubitze 42 (StuH 42)
The Fantasy based one is now on the "to do" list.

The 10.5cm Howitzer Comes from 30 plus yr old and now damaged  Hasegawa kit as do the track Frames and  the commanders Cupola.
Stowage rails on the back are scratch built, the stowage from various old and damaged kits, the ammo box is from a 1/32 kit.
Commander from ...unknown kit.
Towing rope from twisted wire, the starter handle bent paperclip wire.
Antenna made with  old brush bristles.

Track sag created by Putting the tracks on then using a pin, press the track down (to create the sag) and mark the spot with the tip of the pin. Drill Little holes (I used a hot pin with a cork handle which meant removing the track) insert a length of wire  and Bingo. Any adjustments (less or more sag) can be made by bending the wire with some thin nosed pliers.

Bit out of my comfort Zone and I´m not 100% satisfied with the end result..the cammo doesn´t look as I imagined, it looked better without. Building it was fun though and I got more out of it than the intended OOB.

Teutonics - restart

After a gap, the next couple of  Bods for the Teutonic 1329 dio.
The rider in blue normally has a Lady riding sidesaddle in front of him but She didn´t fit along with the smiling kniggit. As with my Version HERE, they don´t  fit 100% comfortably anyway.
The other two are from..er??..I´ve forgotten which set
and for a bit of a Change.....
The "heroes",  Lord Brashford and Lt. Tompkins, Achmed  and thier Faithfull mule Dobin went on a jaunt to Xanten..and amazingly, unlike previous trips out, like the one where Tompkins caught crabs!!!! or their picnick in South africa!!!(how they got out of that no-one knows!) this time they had no terrible mishaps.
A visit to the Roman town .View from the Ampitheatre towards the workers houses.

The Hafentempel (Harbor temple)
Looking at the amazing high altar of the Xanten Cathedral (St. Victor's Cathedral)

and the pics taken by "others"

Kriemhild windmill. Built onto the town wall around the end of the 14th Cent as a Bärwindmühle (a fortified  Tower   with a windmill added)   rebuilt over the centuries and re-used for different things, like a gardenhouse or quarters for the Nightwatch  , it still is in use today.

Klever Tor (Cleves Gate) First built in 1393- re-built in 1843

Orc conversions

This lot are made up using the tops halves from the Dark Alliance Heavy warg Orcs (set two)
and the bottom halves from The Dark Alliance Orcs set one (top pic) and the bottom halves from Caesers Orc Warriors set.
Pre-paint

Post paint
The whole mob (less the "green Orc" )

Question is...base them as individuals like the Orc Warband, or on a single base as with the Elf Archers ?.
Anyway...single or Group basing, I´ll have to pull my finger out and get those Teutonics finished for the 1329 dio.....and the two "secret sets" are still waiting thier turn as well.......

Dark Alliance Orcs - Set two

The second mob from Dark Alliance. This lot only needed a bit of arm twisting in comparison to set one, there was a bit more Flash but easily removed.
10 bods x 5 sprues

Set one and set two together

Next up..conversions

Dark Alliance Orcs - set one

Nine poses..times 5 sprues..45 bods in all..but what can you do with 5 Drummers?
Still, only a Little Flash to deal with and they make a nice Little Family Group.

OOB, some of the poses are a bit flat, like the one 4th from the left on this link  HERE..his sword (Axe thingy) is actually cast stuck on top of his head, but with a bit of twisting (no hot water Treatment required) they end up looking more natural (if such a Thing can be said about Orcs)

Camping accessories

Bits and Pieces to add to the tents.  Cooking stuff, a campfire and a Cooking / Stable tent.
I´ve made it so that the bits and pieces can be removed, swopped about and the Tent can be used for different periods.

When the cooking is done, the Tent can be used for Keeping the nags dry when it rains.
A bit of a mix of makes to create this lot.

The cooking pot from Strelets The French Army's Camp, the base from the Renedra Mixed tent set
Table from Linear-B Roman Tavern set, mess tins and Coffeepot, Atlantic´s US Camp set,
Pig on a spit..Imex Battlefield Accessories

Henry has found something interesting on the table
Dog from Valdemar Miniatures - VA186 "Drunken Knights"

Nags from the Atlantic US camp set

A-Frame or Ridge Tents - Scratchbuilt

Bodstonia needs some tents for an upcoming adventure . There´s loads of tents  in plastic on the market but they all seem to lack something...difference. ...that and they cost Money :-D

Mass produced plastic tents, , by nature of the production,  are uniform, ie; each tent of the same style looks exactly like the next one, same folds, same creases etc.  With most everthing else, Bods, nags, tanks, carts, etc, it´s easy enough to give Variation between each individual Piece, converting, adding bits (Guyropes) or recreating damage/wear and tear..but tents?

I was going to use some Renedra tents, nice in thier own way but as I´ve mentioned, too uniform. Put in "Rows of tents" as a Picture search and you´ll see what I mean...same make and style of tents (in a lot of the pics) but they each have a character of thier own.
With this in mind I decided to make some of my own "mass produced" tents.
How it´s done I´ve already shown HERE
Close up of one of them

Now onto the "camp scenery"  and a Mess tent....then the adventure can begin.

But, before that..a 1:1 mini adventure.
After several days going out at dusk in search of a couple of Baby Tawny  owls, only getting some  dark blurred Pictures, Today, at around 14.00 hours local time, the squawking of blackbirds gave thier approximate locality away and after a painstakingly slow creep into the Woods (Lasting 1/2 an hour for a few meters there and the same back)  I finally got some half decent photos.
They´ve been named...from left to right..Pudding and Pie
