British Infantry in Advance 1701-1714 (Strelets)

I had to get them and they were to be drafted into  Colonel Jerimiah Coleman´s Fusiliers but they are a wee bit smaller than the bods already used , ie; From Zvezda or Italeri.
Still, they are lovely sculpts and as  Bodstonia could do with some sort of foe to keep them on thier toes,  they have been re-assigned as troops from Zvezdonia, a principality on the mainland of Plastasia.

The 1st Regiment of the Zvezdonian Imperial Army
44 bods, 4 sprues of 10 inf per sprue and one command sprue with 4 bods.
Pictured are Just the marching poses. The rest will get used up on another Regiment as and when the other sets appear.

The molded Flags I removed. Easy enough in this case with minimal Damage to the bods but, I´ve said it before, why do manufacturers even bother to add them? At least this lot don´t have a molded pattern on them but still, painting them, even flat ones without a molded pattern,  is a complete pain. Even simple patterns are difficult, as shown on the painted versions over at PSR (HERE)
Easy rules;
1. Just label the bod as a Standard bearer and give him the flag pole without any flag or just a ring Hand so a flagpole can be added.
2. Don´t drape the flag over the bod making it difficult to remove or paint.
3. Have the flag, wether flat, draped, with or without a molded design,  seperate from the bod so the flag can be easily removed by cutting the flag pole.

The designs. I went for something  with a bit of an  "Imperial" and mildly menacing look and  Fitting  to the mid 18th Cent. IMHO, two headed eagles fit the bill.
The yellow version will be the Zvezdonian Imperial flag. The green one is the regimental one  to match the Cuffs.
I know. The flags are actual ones but now they are Zvezdonian
The Cords were made with the  thread that is used to hang up the  X-Mas tree chocolate decoration Things.

The officer sprue, which includes the two Standard bearers,  had a lot of Flash and removing it was not that easy, leaving the bods with a "bitty" appearance
Grenadiers
The Colour scheme I picked is a bit X-masy which fits to the time of year. The basing won´t stay like it is.

Oh!..and happy X-mas :-)

Artillery of Charles XII

What can you paint with a broken middle finger Right Hand?
This lot :-)
24 poses in the set, one of which is a Streltsi so there´s actually 23 gunners. The set includes Two Cannons which are..well, not bad but not up to the Standard of ones from the likes of Zvezda,  a brazier, a big Barrel and two handspikes.
The ones without any Cannon related equipment can be used for camp Scenes / generic Bodstonian  types.
One has had his lintstock replaced with a scythe..maybe he´s been out cutting hay for the horses. Another has had his ramrod replaced with a hayfork...maybe he´s about to go a collect the hay.
I suppose this lot are supposed to be handling the guns. The set comes with Handspikes but they aren´t that good so got binned.
Officers. The bod in the middle ...a giant?
All in all,  a nice Little set and considering it´s a second run, minimal Flash and very few mold lines to deal with.

Not 1/72nd scale but THIS guy creates some really excellent stuff in 1/32nd scale

and, coincidentally Another Italian Hobby guy,  this time in  1/72nd. Why I haven´t caught Guiseppe´s Blog before I don´t know. He´s Building a whole roman town and then some. Amazing. Makes my Roman town (as it was) look amaturish.

Swedish Artillery of Charles XII (Pt2)

The mobile section. In extremis, roads aren´t that common in Bodstonia, this lot can be used to supply a bit more firepower to any Bodstonian field expeditions.
The gun limber. I know, two poor nags straining to pull the gun but at some Point I´ll get hold of a smaller  "galloper" type of gun.
Using the two nag Team for the gun allows the 4 nag Team to pull the carriage
This pair have been added to get the numbers up to 5, a decent enough amount for a gun Team, especially if it will (eventually) be a smaller calibre one.
Made using a spare dragoon from the swedish dragoons Charles XII set and a spare "outrider" from the Artillery of Charles XII set with thier right arms swopped from the Standing bods from both artillery sets.
The nags are from both the swedish and russian dragoons sets.

Swedish Artillery of Charles XII

Again, as with the Zvezda Artillery of Peter the Great, this lot have been recruited into the Bodstonian ranks.

 Three new guns
The whole battery*, including the Purple roses gun Team and a few extra conversions mixing bits from both Zvezda sets to bump up the numbers

* I forgot to add another Howitzer to the line up from the Zvezda Russian Artillery of Peter the Great set. It´s painted a different colour anyway so it would have looked out of place. It´ll have to be added to the Bodstonian Militia.

Bodstonian Dragoons (Pt 6)

The last addition to the Bodstonian dragoons bringing the numbers up to 16, two squads of eight.
The bod is a combination of the Horse holder from the Zvezda Dragoons of Peter I  set and the mounted  pistol firing bod from the Zvezda Swedish Dragoons of Charles XII set.
The Nag, who had it´s head down eating grass, from the Swedish Dragoons set,  had a head swop from one of the other nags in the set.
Next ? I think it´s about time The Bodstonian Artillery got  a bit of an upgrade

Bodstonian Dragoons (Pt5)

Eight new additions to the Bodstonian Dragoons using the Zvezda Swedish Dragoons of Charles XII.
The riders haven´t got the big cuffs that thier previous comrades have and the nags don´t have blanket rolls but both sets are similar enough to mix together.

A couple of Close ups
The whole mounted  section. There´s 11 in the pic but three are normally the army command group
The firing line with dismounted and mounted dragoons

So far that makes 18 in total. Taking away the Army command group (HERE),   Colonel Jeremiah Coleman plus the Drummer and Standard bearer,   that leaves 15 dragoons under Rupert´s command.
15? Bit of an odd number ...they  require another new recruit.

Happy New Year 2019

"wasn´t I standing here last year?"
This year wasn´t too bad  Hobbywise
I actually got down to painting about 90% of the stuff I bought and some from the stash, 423 bods, 56 mounted bods, 1 cannon, 3 wagons, 4 pigs, 4 dogs, 1 horse,  5 tables, 4 benches, A Bridge, a house and 1 pack mule.

What became of the plans for this year ? One came to past..the ACW Project was added to but sadly, yet again, Bodstonia got left out 😞 So similar to the Goals of last year.

Plans for next year? More ACW, if not create any storylines I can at least paint up some bods for Bodstonia...and -----?----well, whatever else takes my fancy.

The Three Musketeers - Mesdemoiselles

Finally...a Change to  medieval themes.
These three Mesdemoiselles come from two Ultima Ratio sets, the Musketeers of the King of France (Constance Bonacieux and Queen Anne of Austria) and The Guards of Cardinal Richelieu (MiLady de Winter) and were sent to me by Phil (Philotep´s 1/72 Minis Kingdom)

There´s a Little bit of Flash to deal with but seeing as they are made using hardish plastic it isn´t too much of a Problem.
Each one as named by PSR
MiLady de Winter
Queen Anne
Constance Bonacieux (or possibly Kitty..servant to MiLady)
Constance and MiLady could take a place in the Bodstonian Landscape..but Queen Anne..?

Now Ultima Ratio will have to make a set of characters from ther late 60´s TV series The Flashing Blade   (Le Chevalier Tempête)

Bodstonian mounted command

As previously mentioned, I thought a complete command Group for a small number of dragoons was a bit over the top so they have ended up as a mounted command Group for the entire Bodstonian army.
The commander of the Bodstonian land Forces (I F**kin` hate painting White nags!! ) Colonel Jeremiah Coleman and his son, captain of the 1st Bodstonian Dragoons, Rupert.
Standard bearer and Drummer
Over at PSR, there´s  a bit of doubt as to wether the Drummer would have used his drum when mounted and should have it stowed. Wether in reality the drum was used when mounted makes no difference to me because in  Bodstonia,  the drum is used both when in the saddle and out.
The flag hasn´t been added as my Printer has run out of toner

Bodstonian Dragoons (Pt 4)

As noted at PSR;

This gives us nine poses, which is quite a good number for a cavalry set of this quality, so we feel quite guilty in pointing out that a figure firing his musket from the saddle would have been a really useful pose (perhaps instead of one of the swordsmen)

Well, that´s easily sorted :-)

Top half of the Standing bod, bottom half of one of the one´s with sword in Hand, a bit of carefull cutting to preserve the Sabre (sorry, sword)  and cartridge box.
Hole drilled through both the legs and Torso.  Both are then joined using second glue and a filed down end of a toothpick which was jammed up through the legs and into the torso.
The other end of the toothpick is then stuck into a cork for ease of handling whilst painting.
When finished, toothpick is cut to length (snipped off so  a half a cm or less is left sticking out under the rider) and the rider stuck to the nag by inserting the short length of toothpick into  a pre-drilled hole in the saddle.

Next..the Command section.

Bodstonian Dragoons (Pt 3)

A couple more Standing bods.
The one tending the nag has had his left arm swopped with one of the riflemen´s arms which has been repositioned so it looks like he´s giving the nag a sugar lump (maybe) and the reins have been cut away from his right hand.
I decided to base the bod "making ready" singularily as it makes him more adaptable and fit alongside the other free standing one who´se aiming/firing.
Only a couple of conversions and the command Group to go.
