It´s reckoned there was around 14,000-15,000 english infantry at Bannockburn, a large number of those being archers.
The new archer stand brings the foot up to 106 bods, 48 infantry + 58 archers/crossbows, so at my Chosen Ratio of 50-1 that makes 5300. Still pitifully low than the total needed, I´d have to paint another 150 - 180 bods, but getting closer.
The entire "English Army" Ranged weapons section
I´m working on another stand of crossbows using bods from other Strelets sets, not just the Medieval Crossbowmen set. At the Ratio of 50:1, It would be over the assumed numbers of crossbowmen present at the actual battle but it will make an even 6 stands.
A wonderful - and effective - group, well done Paul...And my thoughts to my poor ancestors ...
ReplyDeleteExcellent work Paul!
ReplyDeleteYou started group basing Paul?
ReplyDeleteI´ve done quite a bit of Group basing. The bannockburn Project, my Burgundian army, medieval baggage Train, a lot of the kandibah bods...er..??...!!...the Airfix napoleonics but mostly I like single basing so I can endlessly re.arrange the set ups.
Delete...and I forgot virtually every ancient army I own- Romans, Celts, egyptians, macedonians...
DeleteFine collection of archers Paul
ReplyDeleteVery nice collection of archers Paul !
ReplyDeleteCracking work Paul, I never grow tired of your stringed bows, they always look so impressive.
ReplyDeleteThere's just something about massed ranks of archers, and these look great. Have you really added bowstrings to these?! Nice work!
ReplyDeleteThanks Alan.
DeleteInsane as it seems, I have added the bowstrings to every archer :-) TBH,I wish I hadn´t started doing it. It´s fiddly but now I have to add them, they don´t look right without them.
That is a very impressive amount of bowmen both in your collection and historically at the battle. Wouldn't want to be caught under that arrow storm.
ReplyDeleteVery nice looking archers.
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff Paul
ReplyDeleteWell done! As always :))
ReplyDeleteVery nice unit, I like the color scheme a lot, very effective!
ReplyDeletethose look splendid! Can't believe you added bow strings... : )
