One of the bods showing the great effect which can be achieved when you use Thistle Tartan Paint

  1. Paul - you must mix me a tin of that Tartan Paint I have some Highlanders to paint. You seem to have acheived a rather better finish than I managed in 1977 (red tunic, green kilt, black musket - done!)

  2. Tartan paint? Surely you don't mean... No... Patterned paint?

Great job - your highlighting especially works wonders.

  3. I bought the last three pots of that paint in town, you've really gotta mix it up otherwise you get that god awful paisley pattern, like my old pyjamas my mum used to make me where, when I was little!

  4. Thanks chaps :-)
@Ray...you poor sod...you had those awefull things as well? The ones with the string around the waist to do em up and used to hang out of the front in an embarrasing thin white string sort of way. Mind you...they would probably be very popular now...combined with tiger skin pattern slippers, "VERY 60´s Baby ..YEAH!!" :-D
    Cheers

  7. I rather liked Paisley - used to have several shirts & ties etc back in the 60s....
Would look pretty cool on Achaemenid Persians!

  10. Good stuff Paul.
I still have in a box of some of my old Arfix Scots which I re-found when clearing out my dads shed after he had passed away.

Seems when I was throwing out my toys, he was then digging them out of the bin and keeping them.

  15. That's a great paint job - I think that was the very first figure I ever painted circa 1969. Of course back then we didn't have all these modern gadgets like tartan paint we had to make do by removing the lid from a tin of shortbread and carefully crafting a tiny bit into the shape of a kilt before glueing it on.
