ROMANS !!!!!

But not just any model romans...these were hand made by yours truthfully about 8 years ago so  my then 5yr old son could invade the garden with a easy to handle legion. (and what happened ? Playmobil nicked the idea!!! :-) ) The whole lot are made from old wine corks and the bits and pieces are made from cardboard, yoghurt pots and bits of old T-shirts.
The junior officers
Centurian Korky and Legatus Quercus Suberinus
The lads

The very first legionary I made, Timmydus. Alongside a playmobil legionary, Timmy Looks a bit overawed

  2. Thanks :-D
My missus kept saying "you have to do something with them, like show the idea to Playmobil or whatever" I said it was only a bit of fun and anyway, they wouldn´t be interested...and bugger me if they didn´t go and release them a couple of years later!!!!!!!!!!!!!! C**P!!! C**P!!!

  3. Great idea Paul, very inventive. Sue the bloody thieving gits. I guess if imitation is the most sincere form of flattery; then theft is.... ummmmm looking for the word... theft.

  7. Great idea, doesn't look like your son ever got to play with them though, they're all still in one piece!!

  8. What were the Roman bods fighting in the garden? Dastardly slugs? Snotty Snails or just the dread fiends of a childs imagination?

Great idea for keeping little un happy!

  9. At first glance their quite scary and should be in some sword and sandle zombie movie.

I shall now be ringing child line and telling them my dad never made me anything like that.

  10. You're a genius mate! These are brilliant. My 19 month old is pointing at the screen and shouting as I type this.

  11. These really are. That's some workmanship. It must have taken a while too.

  12. Of course the truely heroic bit was the drinking of all those bottles of wine to get enough corks for an entire legion....

Very cool idea Paul. I hope your son liked them.

  13. Wow very impressive work there!

  14. Even though you could get new corks, it looks like the split ones work better for the legs, so yeah, it looks like it must be old used corks to get the right effect.

That's the trouble with being creative, seeing somebody else use your ideas and then not even do it right but they make a fortune off it anyway.

  15. Fantastic - possibly my favourite Bods yet! And much better than the Playmobil efforts.
