Airfix Arabs (Bedouins)
O . Sharif and the boys
Another set in the seemingly never ending Airfix sets.
The plastic was pretty brittle with this lot, the so called "plastic rot". Being a bit of a lazy sod, I painted only two horses and only both camel poses so that all the mounted bods could be put into two photos.

How the hell the one in red manages to stay put on that hump!!! Gripping on with teeth in his butt?

Basically, the set is ok...usefull from Beau Geste to WWI period but it´s a pity there aren´t more single bod poses.

Medieval Mobile Bakery
Another wonderfull little set from Alex´s hands. Apart from the poses it was the faces that really got me with this one. The Bakers look of contentment, the childs look of joy at getting its piece of warm bread and the Bakers wife...intent on her work...just brilliant.!!!! I have this set and when I have time, and you really do need time to do these bods justice, I will get and paint them.

Airfix WWI RHA
Got this lot finished a while back...the commander bod (shouting/ has his base removed so he can be added to the dio later. Basically all of the riders look like Blakey from "on the Buses"..."I´ll get you Butler !"

Airfix ACW Artillery
The gun is C**P, the carriage and horses look VERY odd, but I have fond memories of this set. I painted them up, mixing the Union and CSA bods from the set as a generic CSA gun team.

More gangsters from red Box
This lot of ugly so and so´s are what I like to call the "hoodlums" of the set.
Here they can be seen ignoring all the local road safety laws to have a friendly game of baseball in the middle of the high street. The game has evidently has turned a bit nasty!! Slugger Jones is facing down Wee willy the Knife whilst one of Sluggers team mates tries to introduce his bat to Willys head from behind.. Molly the Moll is pondering what to do with her switchblade whilst her husband, Grumpy Joe just looks on....grumpily.

There is, hidden amongst the rather large amount of Flash, some interesting and original details...like the fact that Willy is holding a pair of Knuckle dusters in his left hand.....how unsporting is that??!
Revell Sopwith F.1 Camel
This time the kit didn´t come with a potted history of which day of the week it was flown over somewhere by Lt general so and so. It did come with a nice little set of playing cards, but unfortunately they were very small and dreadfully thin, so I stuck a couple of them on the wings in case the pilot got bored whilst flying.
This time I used stretched sprue to construct the rigging, a bit better than waxed sowing thread but still a pain in the backside to fit. If I build this plane again (not this particular one, that would be silly) I would add a couple of extras...lewis gun, windscreen etc.

Ghosts!!
I recently got these from an obscure Internet dealer...called "Here today, gone tomorrow Inc! , strange name if you ask me, but each to thier own eh?
The plastic is of the harder variety, comparable to the stuff used by say Italeri. The set has a range of different poses, including, which I find quite original, some animal ghost ones. Not bad at all and the special paints that come with the set can be easily mixed with normal Acrylics.

This one is a horse..or it could also be a pony...some of them are a bit out of scale, but never mind.
Happy Halloween :-)

My Eyes!!! (Baccus 6mm Napoleonics)
I´m Posting the picture of these as my sister doesn´t believe it´s possible...( Now do you believe me? ;-))
I Got these tiny little 6mm Bods from Benno (Bennosfigures Forum - see link) at the annual Forum meeting in Kampen. I witnessed him painting his 6mm bods without using a magnifying glass and in poor light!! (and thanks again for the painting tips Benno!! :-) ) I did my best, and surprisingly they aren´t really that difficult and I can see the attraction...huge armies in a small area.(also the cost of paint must be minimal!)

Bowstrings in 1/72nd
Thought I might share this one with you all. This is how I put a bowstring on a 1/72nd scale figure...I have tried other ways, thin copperwire (too heavy and it needed painting which made it too thick), human hair..(it drys out and breaks)
and many others.
With this one I use the bristles from a normal 3" house paint brush.
The tools needed;
Second glue, tweezers, paintbrush and fine scissors (here nail scissors)
It´s pretty simple really...cut a fine bristle off the brush . It has to be a bit longer than needed to span the two ends of the bow.
Put a bit of glue on each end of the bowstave and attach the bristle. One end can be attached flush to the bowstave, whilst the other end can be a bit longer. When the glue has dried, simply cut off flush to the bowstave and paint over.
This works fine for archers that are loading or have fired, but for the ones that are drawing thier bowstring, it´s more or less the same method except the bristle needs cutting into two short lengths and attaching from hand to stave.
Next article...How to combine a can of Beer and a normal drinking straw to get a cheap nights drinking :-)
