Orctastic!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ray :-)
DeleteWow, 222 individuals make it probably the biggest 1/72 orc collection out there, and they all look splendid! Also congratulations on the 1000 post milestone.
ReplyDeleteThanks :-) The Horde is About (or soon to) get bigger..much bigger.
DeleteWooow i Want also to have so maaany
ReplyDeleteAn army fit for Mordor
The army has been built up over a period of years now and I don´t regularily paint Fantasy ..you´ll carth up.
DeleteWow that's a stunning looking force. They would be awesome on the table against your medievals!.
ReplyDeleteNow there´s an idea. Maybe I could use the new Arthurians against them..and that has just given me another idea..muh ha ha!!:-)
DeletePaul, the one Orcpainter to rule us all !!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil. To get that many I had to break one of my rules.1. Never paint the same bod pose twice. Still, the next Batch may mean Breaking it again. The other rule? Only ever paint the same bod pose twice if 2a. It has a slight conversion, new weapon, added Shield, head swop and 2b; If the pose will be painted in a completely different Colour scheme, ie; A Knight with a different C-o-A than the last one. But 2b should be avoided if at all possible and only used when 2a isn´t possible.
DeleteMy word Paul, that is a staggeringly good army!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michael..but it´s missing some Elements, now what could they possibly be?
DeleteI remember, not so many years ago in all reality, when doing fantasy in 1/72 was basically impossible. There were metal miniatures sure, but the cost of building whole armies of orcs would have been so high. Then came Caesars first round of miniatures. Suddenly the impossible became possible but only in a limited way. Then along came Alliance. Who have expanded the horizons not just for 1/72 fantasy in the legacy of Tolkien but also for post apocalyptic and pulp fantasy too.
ReplyDeleteThis gorgeous horde (an expression not that common one would think) is testament to this development which I am sure many of us here deeply appreciate.
Well said!.
DeleteWell said indeed. If it wasn´t for Alliance then Fantasy would be a no no in our scale, at least very limited.
DeleteN/ow that's a horde mate, I feel a Waaagh coming on!
ReplyDeleteI had one of those yesterday..did n´alf hurt.
DeleteApologies to anon who asked which Colours I used for the Skin.Your Question got deleted by me (accidently)
ReplyDelete1. Base black
2. Skin Areas a coat of mid Brown
3. Mix yellow with a bit of white to the mid Brown to get a brownish Skin tone.
4. Add White to the yellow/ Brown to get a near enough yellowish skintone
5. Highlight (drybrush) after adding more White to the mix from 4.
Took a bit of experimenting and practice to come up with this but better than using a shop bought flesh tone
That really is quite an awesome horde! I don't know how you manage to keep churning the painted models out with such consistent quality!
